Letter from the Principal

JoAnn Laskin

As The Sagemont School year comes to a close on the 4th of June, I want to thank all of you for another phenomenal school year. It is wonderful to watch the children learn and grow during each school year. I am sure you share my appreciation, admiration, and respect for the dedicated teachers and support staff who work tirelessly to make ensure your that child learns all he or she can every day throughout the school year. Thank you for the generous support of our school through your volunteer efforts in our classrooms and through activities organized by the PTO. Your participation in your children's educational program has made a positive difference in a variety of ways. Also, I would like to take the time to thank the members of our PTO who have enriched our school with a variety of enjoyable family events as well as through their financial support.

During the summer, please make regular plans for your child to practice reading, writing and math. There are many fun ways to reinforce skills. Going to the public library, writing letters to family members or keeping a journal of their summer adventures will keep their reading and writing skills in the forefront of their minds. There are a variety of ways to practice math skills in everyday life, and if you create math games out of routine events, children will see how relevant the study of mathematics can be. When school resumes, we want your children to be ready to pick up where they left off. If you need additional ideas, please check with your child's teacher.

May each of you stay safe and healthy, and take time to appreciate all of the gifts that life has given each of us. I wish you all a restful, fun-filled, and safe summer. I look forward to seeing all of you again in August. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, please feel free to stop by and say hello. I will be here for the majority of the summer working on some new and exciting programs for the 2008-2009 school year.
