Our fall athletic teams are finishing up a terrific run in the post-season!

Our girls’ varsity volleyball team finished the regular season with a 6-11 overall record.  The girls finished the regular season with a straight set win over University School on senior night.  Alexandra Rangel served out the final points in the last home volleyball game of her high school career.  Coach Cunningham and the girls then took on Coral Springs Christian in the first round of the district tournament. The girls played an incredible, hard-fought match with CSCA, eventually falling to them by a score of 3-2.  Great job, ladies, on a fantastic season!

The girls’ junior varsity volleyball team finished their season very strong as the girls and Coach Rantin pulled out four victories for the year.  The girls not only had their highest win total ever but even in defeat, played in some remarkably competitive matches against some of the toughest teams in Broward County.

The boys’ and girls’ varsity cross country team has seen some great success this year.  As of now the girls stand with a record of 8-6, while the boys hold a record of 12-6.  Both teams will compete in their district tournament on Friday, November 7 at Westminster Academy.  The girls are looking for a return trip to the FHSAA state tournament and the boys are looking for redemption as they narrowly missed qualifying for states last year!  Good luck to Coach Hardy and Coach Burch and all of our runners in the post-season.

The boys’ and girls’ varsity swim team competed in their district tournament on October 28 at Pembroke Pines Charter School.  Coach Victoria and the swimmers came up against some of the toughest competition in Broward County on a cold, blustery day for districts!  Camilla Mirkin and Jasmine Romano advanced to the finals in individual events by turning in some terrific times!  The relay team of Camilla Mirkin, Jasmine Romano, Agustina Sklar and Julia Abreu also qualified for the finals.  Our young swim team shows a lot of promise to be a tough contender in the future!

The girls’ middle school volleyball team finished the regular season with a tremendous 7-3 overall record.  They qualified for the IAL playoffs for the first time in program history.  Coach Florio, Coach Quan, and the girls took on Boca Christian, who was previously undefeated in the semi-finals, and lost a heartbreaking two games to one.  There are many girls in that program who are ready to take their game to the next level.

The boys’ middle school flag football team led by Coach Gray finished out their season with some key wins in the 2nd half to go 3-5 overall.  The boys took home a resounding 34-6 win in the final game of the season against cross-town rival, Weston Christian Academy.  The boys’ team will return many players next season to build on this year’s success!

All of our winter teams have now started their preseason practice schedules and are ready to repeat some terrific success from last year.  The girls’ varsity soccer team looks to build upon their district runner-up finish last year, and the boys’ varsity basketball team looks to return to the state tournament where they lost tough game in the state championship last year by one point.

Please check out our team schedules at www.viewmyschedule.com, and come out and cheer our winter teams on to victory!

Go Lions!
