Dear Parents and Students,
I am happy to announce that the music program is off to another great start! For those of you that have not heard the “buzz” of music around the campus throughout the day, this information is for you. The Sagemont School has a wonderful new addition to our staff, Mrs. Betty Long. She has taken the position of band director, and is doing a tremendous job building and expanding our music department. Band lessons are now also being offered at our Lower School Campus in order to promote a feeder pattern which will extend into our middle school band program. Ms. Tertulien continues to increase student participation in our keyboard and composition class as well as chorus. To show off our students’ musical talent, the Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, at 6:30p.m.
For those of you who attended the first drama production of the year, Man Up, I am sure you were thoroughly entertained. Asha Ramcharitar, Producer and Director, and Emily Wertman, Assistant Director, did an outstanding job of showcasing our students’ talents! Congratulations to our starring cast members, Emiliana Arteche, Dean Malahais, and Chris Merlino. Other participating cast members included the dramatic, comedic skills of Corina Lander, Sam Vivas, Sebastian Bruno Harris, Joseph Rodriguez, Kim Stanton, Tyler Stanley, Ana Carbonell, Andrew Sofman, Andres Llano, Alexa Holguin, Hanan Elmasry and Kyrah Williams. Additionally, no production can be a success without the assistance and support of the stage crew consisting of Ryan Babayi, Javier Pena, Maria Bonaventura, Ellie Gottlieb, Jasmine Romano, Emmy Grimley, Roxanne Santiago, Andres Llanos, Laura Hochstein, Augie Sklar, Isabel Rangel, Kyra Williams, and Ms. Jennifer Bell. A great big heartfelt thank you is extended to Mrs. Vivas and Roxanne Santiago for stocking and running the concession stand as well as selling tickets for the performance.
I highly encourage students to participate in our performing arts programs. It is never too late to get involved. Our next scheduled high school drama production will occur in the spring. Our middle school drama production is scheduled for March 30 through April 1, 2009. I look forward to seeing you there.
